Description:
Ingrid Junker is a Berlin-based brand consultant, fashion designer and art director. But most notably, she is the co-founder of the infamous "Broken Hearts Club" and the recently opened "Flamingo", two venues at the centre of Berlin's nightlife for those seeking a rather sophisticated way of entertainment. At Flamingo, you can catch a Planningtorock-DJ-Set at New Year's Eve or witness rare DJ-appearances of German soul boy Jan Delay. The vision of Flamingo goes beyond just being a club; the Broken Hearts Club, which exports Berlin club culture to Paris or Art Basel Miami, has become its own brand. "Everything we do is based on a network around the creative circle in Berlin," Ingrid says, "we treat Flamingo like a creative playground." Jeremy Shaw, also known as Circlesquare, has been producing electronic music since the late 1990s. Shaw attended art school in Vancouver, where he used to live until relocating to Germany in 2007. Besides his musical career, he also produces art. "My work is always about altered states", he explains, "it's basically about the age old notion of transcend the present, to escape the body." His approach is not about sending people on a trip, but more about searching for forms to illustrate things that can't be described. Trying to make experiences visible. For this attempt R.E.M.-singer Michael Stipe presented him as his personal artists of choice to watch out for in "Dazed & Confused" magazine.
